Mistakes Were Made is a show about the one thing every human has ever experienced: failure. Six storytellers, who have graced stages at the Apollo, the Avalon, the Moth GrandSLAM, and more, will share stories that audiences will laugh at, identify with, and maybe walk away from saying, “I’m so glad that wasn’t me!”. From tales of youthful humiliations to completely insane celebrity run-ins, the evening will be full of jaw-dropping and hilarious moments, as well as opportunities for audience members to share their own “learning experiences” and possibly even win the evening’s “Humble Pie” (an actual, delicious pie).
Ritija Rice Gupta (host) is a native Washingtonian who is delighted to host Mistakes Were Made. In 2017, she performed with the Moth Mainstage at New York City’s famed Apollo Theater, and most recently performed for the Risk! podcast, as well as at the Avalon in LA, State Theater in Ithaca, and the Lincoln Theater in DC. She cut her storytelling teeth at Story District (her first storytelling performance was nominated for 2013’s “Best Of”), and is a frequent flyer at Perfect Liar’s Club, Capital Fringe Festival, and other DC institutions. In 2016, she completed her first solo show with generous support from Cultural DC’s Mead Theater Lab Fellowship. She's currently heading up the expansion of "Mistakes Were Made" to LA and SF in addition to shows in NYC and DC. She also has an MBA and an MPP that don’t have much to do with storytelling but eh, probably doesn’t hurt to know.
